This Privacy Policy explains what information Discount Buddy (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you use discountbuddy.in, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We follow India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Discount Buddy is run by Manoj Kumar Lamba, India. Under the DPDP Act, we are the “Data Fiduciary” for personal data collected on this website.

2. The short version

  • You can use Discount Buddy without creating an account or telling us your name.
  • We use cookies and similar tools for analytics (Google), ads (Google AdSense), affiliate tracking and site security (Cloudflare).
  • We don’t sell your personal data.
  • We never ask for payment details. All purchases happen on the store’s own website.
  • You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time.

3. What we collect

a) Information you give us
– When you email us or use a contact form: your name, email address and what you write.
– When you sign up for email alerts or a newsletter (if offered): your email address.

b) Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:
– IP address and approximate location (city or country level)
– Browser, device type and operating system
– Pages you visit, links you click, time on the site, and the site that sent you here
– Cookie identifiers and similar online identifiers

c) What we don’t collect
We don’t collect payment card details, bank details, UPI IDs, Aadhaar, PAN or passwords. We don’t knowingly collect sensitive personal data.

4. Why we use it

We use your information to:
– Run the website, keep it fast and fix problems
– Understand which pages and deals are popular so we can improve them
– Show ads and measure how they perform
– Track affiliate clicks so stores can credit us for referrals
– Protect the site from spam, bots, fraud and attacks
– Reply to your messages and requests
– Meet legal obligations

We rely on your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies and email signups) and on legitimate uses allowed by the DPDP Act (for example, when you send us information voluntarily, or to meet legal requirements).

6. Third-party services we use

These services may process data on our behalf or receive it directly from your browser. Each one follows its own privacy policy.

7. Affiliate links

Many store links on Discount Buddy are affiliate links. When you click one, the affiliate network and the store can see that you came from us and may record your click, device and order details so they can pay us a commission. We don’t receive your payment details or your full order details. Once you are on a store’s website, that store’s privacy policy applies.

8. Sharing your data

We don’t sell or rent your personal data. We share it only:
– With the service providers listed above, so they can run their services for us
– When the law requires it, or a government or court order asks for it
– To protect our rights, users or the website from fraud or abuse
– If the website changes owner, in which case this policy continues to apply

Some providers (such as Google and Cloudflare) may process data on servers outside India. Where this happens, it is done as the DPDP Act and any government restrictions allow.

9. How long we keep data

  • Emails and contact messages: up to 2 years, or less if you ask us to delete them
  • Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe
  • Analytics data: kept according to our Google Analytics retention setting
  • Server and security logs: kept for a limited time by Hostinger and Cloudflare, as their policies set out

10. Your rights under the DPDP Act

You have the right to:
– Access: ask what personal data we hold about you and how we use it
– Correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data
– Erase: ask us to delete your data when we no longer need it
– Withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribe from emails or reject cookies). Withdrawing consent doesn’t affect anything we did before.
– Raise a grievance with us (see below)
– Nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or become unable to

12. Children

Discount Buddy is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect data, including HTTPS encryption and Cloudflare security protection. No website is 100% secure, but if a data breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and for important changes we may also post a notice on the site.
